BUDGET IMPACT MODEL OF AN ENDOSCOPIC PROCEDURE
SCOPE: Europe

BACKGROUND
The endoscopic device: a platform enabling direct visualization cholangioscopy for detection and treatment of large stones and strictures throughout in the pancreatico-biliary system. The device was recently replaced by a newer version improving visualization and helping simplify the procedure.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE
To evaluate the economic consequences of the use of a new endoscopic technique, as alternative to current options indicated for the treatment of difficult biliary stones and biliary malignancies.

APPROACH

  • Inclusion of double perspective (hospital vs. third payer).
  • Development of a user-friendly interface to increase usability at a hospital level (Key accounts).
  • Automatic generation of a “dynamic report”, updating results coherently with new data inputs.
  • Country customization of the model for 5 geographies.

OUTPUT
Development of an easy-to-use model; a slide-deck to train model’s users; a Q&A document to support users in explaining the economic messages arising from the model. An economic article was prepared as well to illustrate the results of the analysis.
