SKU Optimization Analysis

OPPORTUNITY ASSESSMENT OF SKU MANUFACTURING IN A RARE DERMATOLOGIC DISEASE
SCOPE: Europe

BACKGROUND
The company was seeking to understand the opportunity to launch its product in the disease in object as a new indication, but needed to understand possible manufacturing implications due to different dosing requirements for patient treatment.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE
To assess the opportunity and manufacturing feasibility for a new (larger) SKU dedicated to the disease in object (and to eventually analyse price correlations between the two SKUs).

APPROACH

  • Analysis of demand and of optimal SKU size, based on dosing requirements.
  • Test of manufacturing options and of feasibility to produce the “optimal” SKU.
  • Elaboration of a win-win manufacturing hypothesis and analysis of the opportunity of non-linear pricing for the smaller SKU.

OUTPUT
The tube size necessary to meet patients needs was determined in light of eligible patient distribution assumptions, and was reconciled with manufacturing needs to find the optimal manufacturing strategy.
